The San Antonio Obesity Society is dedicated to advancing education and awareness about obesity as a complex, chronic disease.

We strive to empower healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the broader community with evidence-based knowledge, fostering a bias-free, compassionate, and comprehensive approach to the prevention and treatment of obesity.

About SAOS

The SAOS was inspired by roundtable conversations of healthcare providers and community leaders who dreamed of a multidisciplinary organization committed to advancing obesity care in San Antonio. (And nationally, maybe?). Founded in 2023, it opened its doors to a diverse group of professionals seeking to better understand the complexity of obesity, its prevention and management, as well as how can advocacy bridge the gap between research, clinical practice, and the public’s understanding of this growing epidemic.
